Just in time for the Lunar New Year, K-POP artists and legendary singers of their time, Gummy and Kim Tae Woo held a New Year concert for fans in New York. Sponsored by K Radio, this one night event attracted more than 2000 fans to the Colden Auditorium at Queens College. Here, the two artists performed duets and several of their hit songs including There is No Love, Love Rain and Friday Night. Hallyu World was able to get a quick interview backstage with the artists right before performing on stage. Let’s see what they have to say…

EXP, short for ‘experimental,’ was formed in October of 2014 by IMMABB (I’m Making a Boy Band) The initial purpose of forming EXP was actually part of a thesis project by Bora Kim to examine how gender is performed in pop culture and how it relates to many other issues in globalized society. Byun Jae-Wook (Hwang Jung-Min) is a short-tempered prosecutor who only pursues the truth. He is famous for his tough investigations. A suspect, under the the interrogation of Byun Jae-Wook, is then found dead. Byun Jae-Wook is arrested and gets 15 years in prison. Five tears later, Byun Jae-Wook meets good-looking con man Chi-Won in prison. Chi-Won knows about Byun Jae-Wook’s case. Byun Jae-Wook feels Chi-Won could carry out his plan outside of prison. Using his knowledge as a former prosecutor, he gets Chi-Won acquitted. Byun Jae-Wook prepares a counterattack on those who framed him. Chi-Won though looks for a chance to get away from Byun Jae-Wook.

Yim Si-wan & Go Ah-Sung @ 'Melody To Remember 想念哥哥'


During this blustering January of 2016, I would like to share with you a heartwarming film set during the 1950s’ 「Korean War」 -- A Melody to Remember (also known as 「Missing Elder Brother」). Adapted from a true story, A Melody to Remember recounts the story of a children’s choir formed during the cruel war time. Yim Si-wan (Siwan) plays the army lieutenant turned choir conductor in A Melody to Remember. From his debut film 「the Attorney」 in which he played alongside seasoned actors to the TV drama 「Misaeng」 where he plays the role Jang Geu-rae, Siwan has earned widespread recognition from the media and the public for his stellar acting and star power!
